CLASSES & DESCRIPTIONS

Intro to Ballet ~ Introduces the younger dancer to the disciplines of Ballet with the understanding that young children have short attention spans. The class flows between creative movement play, fundamental ballet technique and large motor skilled development in a structure and enjoyable environment. Dancers will also develop listening skills, learning to wait their turn, focus and make new friends


Pre-Barre Ballet ~ Step up from the Intro to ballet level putting more focus on classical skill development and less on the creative aspect, yet still geared to the younger dancer


Ballet
~ Classical technical training utilizing Vaganova and Balanchine techniques from an anatomical perspective focusing on proper alignment, placement, technique, body awareness, musicality and expression. Our ballet classes include barre and center work, progressions and ballet vocabulary/terminology


PrePointe
~ (with Instructor approval). A prerequisite for pointe and requires a monument of two pre-pointe ballet classes per week. It encompasses a classical ballet class with additional ankle stability and strength training of the muscle required for pointe


Pointe
~ Advanced extension of classical ballet. The dancer must be physically strong and have a great understanding and presents of ballet technique. Beyond instructor approval, a dancer is also required to seek the approval from their doctor, podiatrist or orthopedist to determine if the dancer has any underlining negative foot anatomy conditions. Along with a minimum of 2 classes per week, the dancers must also be enrolled in 2 classical ballet classes per week. Beginner pointe classes are foot, ankle, and calf strength oriented and remain at the ballet barre until they are technically strong and safe within the center floor


Mini Tap
~ Introduction to tap for the young dancer, teaching the fundamental skills and language of tap. Focusing on rhythm, musicality, and listening skills in a positive upbeat atmosphere


Tap
~ Percussive discipline where the dancer creates rhythms with their feet.  Embracing musicality, technique skill development within the multiple styles of tap including Broadway, rhythm and hoofing


Mini Jazz
~ Introduction into jazz training focusing on the dancers ballet foundation and how the two disciplines interrogate, thus requiring registration in a ballet class. This class also develops musicality, body awareness, and is fast paced with age appropriate music and choreography


Intro to Jazz
~ Step up from the Mini jazz level with increased technique skills


Jazz
~ Class enriches and increases a dancers technical skills through center and progression work. Skills such as leaps, turns and extensions are incorporated into choreography-combos that challenge and develop the dancer’s movement and memory skills. Jazz also utilizes Ballet technique, so a ballet foundation is recommended for greater technical jazz dance understand and development


Intro to Hip Hop
~ Introduction class teaching hip hop fundamentals with age appropriate music and movement


Hip Hop ~ Integration of street and urban dance styles. You will learn hip hop techniques in an upbeat and highly motivated athletic class


Modern
~ Free expressive style of dancing supported by a combination of techniques including yoga, Graham, Horton, and Alexander. Focusing on the development of strength, the use of the entire body in movement through choreography or improv


Lyrical Jazz
~ Fusion of jazz and ballet techniques that uses music with lyrics to inspire the moments and tell the story. It is a very precise discipline with extensions, fluid movements and focuses on emotion. Jazz and ballet knowledge is highly encouraged


Contemporary
~ Expressive dance form that combines elements of several dance disciplines including modern, jazz, lyrical, and classical ballet. Dancers strive to connect the mind and body through fluid dance moments


Musical Theatre Jazz
~ Form of theatrical dancing with classic jazz style movement, focusing on characterization and stage presence. This high energy class will prepare any dancer for the stage


Leaps/Turns
~ Supplemental technique class that is especially for the dancer who wishes to perfect and refine their skills of turning, jumping and leaping. This class is helpful for all dance disciplines and is taught with an emphases on technique, and correct body placement, beginning with the basics and advancing to high level skills

8 WEEK CLASS sessions

Acro/Tumbling ~ From Beginner to Advance… Acro skills and tricks are an excellent addition to a dancer’s resume of techniques. Teaches you to do a forward roll, backward roll, cartwheel, round off, back walk over, hand spring, and much more or just improve upon your skills. Leotard, Unitard or Athletic attire & barefeet
